The Science of Accurate Temperature Measurement

In manufacturing, pharmaceutical production, and food processing, temperature is among the most critical process variables. When temperature instruments drift out of tolerance, product quality is compromised, regulatory compliance is jeopardized, and costly batch failures may result. Through temperature calibration, the accuracy of sensors, controllers, and recording devices is verified against NIST-traceable reference standards — ensuring that every measurement can be defended under audit.

Through Temperature Calibration Specialists, on-site calibration is performed by A2LA accredited technicians using dry-block calibrators, precision temperature baths, and fixed-point cells traceable to the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90). Whether a single thermocouple or an entire facility's sensor inventory requires verification, ISO/IEC 17025 accredited measurement results are delivered with full uncertainty budgets — accepted by auditors worldwide without question.

Temperature calibration is not optional for regulated industries. FDA 21 CFR, FSMA, AMS 2750H, and Nadcap all mandate documented, traceable calibration at defined intervals. When these requirements are met through accredited calibration services, production schedules are protected, audit findings are avoided, and measurement confidence is maintained across every critical process.

Capabilities

Calibration Services

Oven Temperature Calibration

Temperature uniformity surveys (TUS) and system accuracy tests (SAT) are performed per AMS 2750H for batch and continuous industrial ovens.

Furnace Temperature Calibration

Vacuum furnace pyrometry, atmosphere monitoring, and Nadcap-compliant temperature uniformity surveys are conducted for heat treating operations.

Thermocouple Calibration

Type K, J, T, E, N, R, S, and B thermocouples are calibrated against NIST-traceable reference standards with drift analysis and ITS-90 compliance.

RTD Calibration

Platinum resistance thermometers (PRT/RTD) are verified using fixed-point cells and comparison baths per IEC 60751 tolerance classes and ITS-90.

Autoclave Calibration

IQ/OQ/PQ validation protocols, lethality (F0) calculations, and steam penetration studies are completed per FDA 21 CFR Part 211 and ISO 17665.

Environmental Chamber Calibration

Stability chambers, thermal cycling chambers, and environmental test chambers are mapped for temperature and humidity per ICH and ISTA protocols.

Data Logger Calibration

Temperature data loggers and wireless monitoring sensors are verified with NIST-traceable comparison standards per FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and FSMA requirements.

Temperature Mapping

Warehouse and storage area temperature distribution studies are performed with hot/cold spot identification per WHO TRS 961 Annex 9 qualification protocols.

Cold Storage Calibration

Freezer, refrigerator, and ultra-low temperature storage IQ/OQ/PQ qualification is conducted per FDA 21 CFR and CDC vaccine storage guidelines.

Credentials

Accreditation & Traceability

All temperature calibration is performed under ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation. Measurement results are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) through an unbroken chain of comparisons. Calibration methodologies conform to the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90), ensuring worldwide acceptance of all reported values.

Service Territory

Serving Illinois and Wisconsin

On-site temperature calibration is provided throughout Illinois and Wisconsin. From pharmaceutical facilities in Chicago to food processing plants in Milwaukee, calibration services are delivered directly at the point of use — eliminating the cost and risk of shipping sensitive instruments to off-site laboratories.

Thermocouples, RTDs, data loggers, environmental chambers, autoclaves, industrial ovens, and furnaces are all calibrated on-site with NIST-traceable reference standards. Same-day measurement results are issued upon completion of each calibration.
